George Hazell

It is with great sadness that the family has announced the passing of George Hazell at the age of 85 after a short illness. George was the founder of Geroge Hazell & Co in 1991 and was instrumental in establishing the business during his tenure, the firm then becoming Hazells Chartered Surveyors.

George was one of the most respected surveyors within Bury St Edmunds and was known for his incisiveness, excellent judgement, tenacity and above all integrity. He was a hugely respected businessman within the town and was active from the 1960s until fully retiring in the mid 2010s.

An excellent sportsman, George played hockey for Bury St Edmunds and in later life represented England at various veteran internationals. He had a huge passion for golf and was also a keen skier, wind surfer and water skier.

At Hazells we recognise the huge contribution that George has made to the firm, firstly establishing the business and setting it upon the firmest of footings and then mentoring the next generation in taking forward his vision for the firm.

George leaves behind his wife Kay, son Peter, daughter-in-law Beaney and three grand children. He will be much missed.
