We are delighted to confirm that Greene King have let SP160, a 161,344 sq ft logistics warehouse, and joined the party of major occupiers at Jaynic’s hugely successful Suffolk Park development.

The move follows significant growth for Greene King over the years with more than 20 million pints passing through its current distribution centre off Cullum Road every month to be delivered UK-wide. The current building is showing its age and is vulnerable to adverse weather conditions and so moving to a newer facility allows Greene King to maintain its high levels of operational excellence and improve its environmental footprint.

Ben Oughton, development director at Jaynic, says: “We are absolutely delighted to have let one of Suffolk Park’s newest buildings to Greene King, which is a long established employer in Bury St Edmunds and is known throughout the UK.”

Greene King Brewing & Brands Managing Director Matt Starbuck said: “We’re pleased to announce this multi-million-pound investment in the area as we move the distribution part of our business to Suffolk Park.

“Our new distribution centre will be a more sustainable, purpose-built structure providing a modern and improved space for our teams with a much better environmental footprint.

“This is a positive change for Greene King, highlighting our commitment to investing in our hometown where we are a major Suffolk business employing hundreds of local people.

“We’re proud of our Bury St Edmunds heritage and continue to brew our range of award-winning beers in our iconic Westgate Brewery.”

Greene King runs over 2,600 pubs, restaurants and hotels in towns, villages and city-centre high streets across England, Wales and Scotland. With a rich heritage of over 200 years, it brews award-winning beers and operates managed, tenanted, leased, and franchised pubs from its headquarters in Bury St Edmunds.

The letting of SP160 to Greene King and earlier sale of SP47 to the Sealey Group, another major Bury St Edmunds employer, concludes the third phase of development at Suffolk Park, and Jaynic will decide whether to retain or sell the resulting investment.

A reserved matters planning application for the fourth and final phase is due to be determined by West Suffolk Council this month. The application by Jaynic comprises two further logistics units of 77,000 sq ft and 128,000 sq ft. After this final phase Jaynic will have delivered a total of around 2m sq ft at the park.

Occupiers taking space at Suffolk Park to date include Skechers, Bleckmann, MH Star UK Ltd, Unipart Logistics, Treatt, Sealey and The East of England Ambulance Trust.
