Having joined Hazells in July this year, and with Christmas fast approaching, I cannot help but feel that the time has flown by. I very much feel that I am settled and established already which is testament to the welcoming nature of all the team here at Hazells and the way that the business is run with a strong family feel prevailing.
My background in the property industry so far has very much been a corporate one, working for a much larger organisation, for a large period of my career looking after a team managing properties remotely. I have already found stark contrast to this here at Hazells and can see the benefit of being a smaller local agent and the improved customer service that we can provide as a result.
The corporate world of lettings and estate agency is one of targets, commission and competition, and I feel that none of this benefits the client. It has been incredibly refreshing to do away with this and to be in an environment where every decision is made with the client in mind and not having to worry about whether this means that a target is or is not hit.
My move to Hazells accompanied a move from Colchester to Glemsford, a village outside Bury St Edmunds, meaning that not only was I starting with a new company but also in an area which I was not overly familiar. It has been a steep learning curve and I still have a lot to learn about the area. However, I am thoroughly enjoying discovering its history and culture.
I hear a lot of people moaning about the traffic in Bury, but compared to Colchester, trust me it is a breeze!
