Hazells Chartered Surveyors
We are an independent firm of chartered surveyors specialising in residential lettings & management and commercial property. We operate from one busy office in central Bury St Edmunds and pride ourselves on offering a highly professional service to our clients.
This is a permanent position suitable for a full time candidate or possibly slightly reduced hours. There will be a probation period of three months.
This is a mixed role including Accounts Administrator, Office Administrator & General Assistant.
You will be replacing an existing member of staff who is retiring.
The role is multi-disciplined but principally accounts based. You will be required to maintain our client and office accounts using a combination of SageL50 and the firm’s dedicated property management software – CFP, from which you will receipt rents and pay landlords. You will also need to be proficient in Sage Payroll and be able to prepare VAT returns. You must be competent in reconciling accounts, data entry, payment processing and understanding accounting processes.
You will provide close support to the commercial property team where you will be responsible for raising rent and service charge demands, receipting rents and ensuring tenants pay in a timely manner. You will become involved with a number of property management matters on both the commercial and residential side of the business.
You will also have the role of managing the day to day office requirements including stationery, file storage, post opening, utilities, IT, telephone answering and other support matters.
It is vital that you are extremely confident in the use of various computer software packages, particularly Sage and Microsoft Office. It is an advantage if you are familiar with a property management program.
You will need to be very well organised, conscientious and capable of dealing with a wide range of matters relating to accounts and be willing to assist in a variety of property management support roles.
The successful candidate should have attained a good standard of education and will ideally have attained an accounting qualification or have many years of relevant work experience.
You must be extremely competent with the use of Sage, word processing, spreadsheets, emails and other software. We currently run dedicated property management software called CFP and knowledge of this will be useful but not essential.

Competitive salary based on experience.
20 paid days a year, increasing by one day per year of employment to a maximum of 25 days, plus bank holidays.
Monday to Friday with hours of 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, with a one hour lunch break – potential for reduced daily hours to say 9.00 am to 4 pm.
You will be enrolled into The Peoples Pension which you may opt out of if you have alternative arrangements.
Three month trial period during which either party may terminate the contract upon providing one week’s notice.
