Calling All Commercial Landlords to Check EPC Ratings!

The date for implementation of the Governments minimum energy standards is fast approaching and could considerably effect the commercial property market. From April 2018 landlords will be prohibited from letting commercial properties with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of F or G. These are the two lowest grades for energy efficiency, with Grade E being the poorest acceptable energy rating. It is important to make necessary changes to upgrade your properties to meet the minimum standards before April 2018, otherwise disposing of property will become problematic and this could have a detrimental affect on property values. Some EPC exemptions do exist, for instance for Listed Buildings, but Landlords should check the Recommendation Report provided with their current EPC.
